Florence is the birthplace of the Renaissance, bringing humanism to the world of art. This presentation examines the four building blocks of the Renaissance, Wealth, Civic Ambition, Religion, and Humanism, which brought Florence and its rich history to the forefront of civilization.

Giuliana Koch is a scholar of Italian literature and culture and a board member of The Society of the Four Arts in Palm Beach. She holds a doctorate in Contemporary Italian and Comparative Literature from the University of Florence, where her published dissertation examined the poetry of Nobel Laureate Eugenio Montale. She has taught Italian Language and Literature at several US universities and lectures widely on Classical and Renaissance subjects.
