At the beginning of the 15th century, Florence experienced a Renaissance that would turn away from the preceding Gothic and Romanesque periods. Florentine artists spurred a rejuvenation of the glories of classical Greek and Roman Art. Brunelleschi, Donatello and Verrocchio quickly assimilated the concepts of the new artistic language and developed an original style inspired by Antiquity. Their brilliance and tremendous innovations had a profound influence on Western art.
